Technological advances – twilight of the finance function?

Rick Payne is ICAEW’s expert on building effective finance functions and the role of the Chief Financial Officer. Having worked as a divisional CFO in a leading financial services firm he now draws on his experience to lead ICAEW’s Finance Direction programme. Rick is a qualified trainer and executive coach and has an MSc (with distinction) in Organisational Behaviour from Birkbeck College University of London.
Kirstin Gillon is a technical manager in the ICAEW IT Faculty and is responsible for the faculty’s Making Information Systems Work thought leadership programme. In this role, she writes a wide variety of reports and articles on digital technology, business and the accountancy profession. She liaises with the academic community and organises topical discussion-based events on themes ranging from cyber security to Bitcoin. She joined ICAEW from PwC’s IT consultancy practice and previously worked at IBM as a project manager and business analyst.
Nigel Hastilow is ICAEW Director of Enterprise responsible for the Business Advice Service. Previously, he was Regional Director for the West Midlands. Before joining ICAEW he was Regional Director for the Institute of Directors in the West Midlands but he is a journalist by trade and was editor of The Birmingham Post for eight years. He has had a brief and inglorious career in politics, run his own small business and written three books including a novel, "The Smoking Gun".
